This guide details the heavy-duty towing specs, the introduction of the rugged PRO-4X off-road trim, and the massive technological upgrades found in the Platinum Reserve.

Our dealership team frequently recommends this flagship vehicle to buyers who need to haul heavy trailers to Lake Lewisville while surrounding their family in premium comfort. Read on to explore exactly what makes this generation a massive leap forward.

Performance and Engine Specs

The 2026 Nissan Armada introduces a completely redesigned powertrain architecture, retiring the previous V8 in favor of a highly advanced 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This new powerplant utilizes direct fuel injection and a lightweight aluminum block to deliver an impressive 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque in standard configurations. For buyers seeking the ultimate thrill, the first-ever Armada NISMO grade pushes those figures to 460 horsepower when running on premium fuel. This staggering output ensures you have immediate passing power on Interstate 35E, whether you are commuting solo or carrying a cabin full of passengers.

To manage this incredible performance, engineers paired the twin-turbo V6 with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters for manual control. This setup includes an Idle Stop and Start system to improve efficiency during heavy Lewisville traffic. Buyers can easily browse our current availability on the New Inventory page.

Engine ConfigurationHorsepowerTorqueEPA-Estimated MPG (City/Hwy/Comb)
3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 (2WD)425 hp @ 5,600 rpm516 lb-ft @ 3,600 rpm16 / 20 / 18
3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 (4WD)425 hp @ 5,600 rpm516 lb-ft @ 3,600 rpm16 / 19 / 17
3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 (NISMO)460 hp @ 5,600 rpm516 lb-ft @ 3,600 rpm16 / 19 / 17

The implementation of twin turbochargers completely changes the driving dynamic of this full-size SUV. Instead of waiting for high RPMs to feel the power, the 516 pound-feet of torque is available low in the rev range. This translates to effortless acceleration from a dead stop and confident merging speeds on short highway on-ramps. Furthermore, standard 4WD models achieve an EPA-estimated fuel economy of up to 19 miles per gallon on the highway, proving that massive power does not have to come at the expense of efficiency. This setup delivers a thrilling daily drive while remaining highly practical.

Capabilities

Nissan engineered the new Armada to be a dominant force both on the pavement and off the pavement. When properly equipped, this full-size SUV boasts a maximum towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds. This capability makes it the ideal choice for Texas buyers hauling heavy horse trailers across Denton County or pulling large pontoon boats to Lake Lewisville for a weekend on the water. To support this immense towing rating, the vehicle features a standard Class IV tow hitch receiver, an integrated trailer brake controller, and advanced Trailer Sway Control to keep your load stable during strong crosswinds.

For off-road enthusiasts, the introduction of the PRO-4X grade brings an unprecedented level of rugged capability to the nameplate. This specific trim adds an electronic locking rear differential, heavy-duty underbody metal skid plates, and a unique front bumper that increases the approach angle to 33.0 degrees. Furthermore, the available Adaptive Electronic Air Suspension system allows the driver to actively raise or lower the vehicle height. You can verify available configurations by checking our Armada Inventory.

This extreme clearance means you can confidently navigate deeply rutted dirt trails or flooded access roads without scraping the undercarriage. The driver can also utilize eight selectable drive modes and Hill Descent Control to maintain absolute command over the vehicle on steep, loose inclines. This SUV is built to conquer the harshest environments.
